If you have pain on the outer aspect of your elbow, it may be related to irritation of the common extensor tendons- the tendons you use in a tennis backhand, revving a motorbike handle, or wringing clothes. This condition difficult to treat satisfactorily. It keeps coming back. Imaging guided injections with hydrocortisone or even biologic materials can be considered.
Pain on the inner aspect of the elbow may be due to irritation of the common flexor-pronator tendons. We use the tendon when we bend the elbow, perform a forehand smash or play golf. The pain is thought to be due to microscopic tears. Imaging guided injections ranging from cortisone injection to radiofrequency ablation are available to treat golfer’s elbow.
