Founded in 2011, Imaging Consulting is a specialist service that:
1) allows you to discuss imaging scan findings with a radiologist, and
2) offers musculoskeletal interventions such as image guided spine and joint injection service and other imaging guided procedures
Joints in the body can be seen with ultrasound, allowing a direct injection to administer medications without surgery. Knees, ankles, shoulders, elbows, wrists and even the small joints of the foot and hand can be evaluated. Ultrasound has NO radiation, gives real time information and is a cost effective way to treat many causes of joint pain.
The spine is made up of many small bones: 7 in the neck, 12 in the torso, and 5 in the lower back. These articulate with each other in a dynamic manner, shifting and changing loads with our posture- causing pain if a nerve is pinched, or a joint becomes inflammed. We diagnose the causes of pain with injections, with the advantage of therapeutic pain relief for a period of time. If the pain returns, minimally invasive image guided interventions can be performed to achieve longer lasting pain relief.
Fractured spines is a cause of severe pain - usually in osteoporotic patients, and sometimes in trauma. The fracture causes deformity of the vertebra, and also the entire curvature of the spine if severe enough. Augmented vertebral fracture treatments with stabilising hardware are emerging as the preferred methods to correct curvature of the spinal column, and we place these in a minimally invasive procedure. Patients usually do well enough to go back home the next day.
In person or teleconsults are provided. Discuss your scan findings, point to me where it hurts, and let’s see what can be done about it. Conditions to discuss: joint and spine aches and pains, muscle tears, lumps and bumps, or if you need a line for antibiotics and other long term IV medications.
